What is florum?

florum is a creative studio for exploration and growth. The name combines “flourish” and “forum” to reflect its purpose—a space where ideas connect, interests grow, and people learn together. Whether you’re a beginner or returning to art, florum offers a welcoming environment to try new mediums and create with others.

The foundation of all art! This class focuses on core skills like value, form, and proportion through guided drawing from observation. Work with objects tailored to your skill level while receiving hands-
on instruction.

Bring a reference you love and turn it into a painting! We’ll help you plan, mix colors, and paint with intention. You’ll leave with a finished piece and a better understanding of approaching painting on your own.

Keep it loose! Charcoal is about lines and contours. It’s a great medium for figure drawing for its emphasis on gestures.

I grew up drawing and painting and was lucky to learn from many great teachers. Today, I work as a software engineer and balance my time between New Jersey and New York City. I started florum to share the joy of learning and making art. My goal is for you to feel comfortable experimenting, growing, and finding inspiration in the process.
